The complaint was made public this Thursday by the Argentine program Otra mañana, which reported that a woman filed an accusation against Zambrano, Trauco and Sergio Peña for an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Montevideo, during the preseason tour carried out by the blue and white club in Uruguay. Through a statement released on his social media, Carlos Zambrano expressed his absolute rejection of any form of violence against women and questioned the dissemination of versions that, according to him, are partial and inaccurate.

"The media exposure generated has caused deep damage on a personal and professional level," stated the defender, who firmly denied any criminal charges against him.

The former Boca Juniors player explained that he chose to remain silent until formally knowing the content of the complaint and assured that he will fully cooperate with the competent authorities.
“I am calm regarding what happened and I trust that Justice will act with objectivity and adherence to the law,” he added.

Trauco also denies the facts

In similar terms, Miguel Trauco, former Flamengo soccer player, spoke out, stating that he felt calm about the situation and expressed his confidence that the investigations would clarify the facts in accordance with the law.

"Versions have been spread that have generated disproportionate media exposure, causing deep pain to my family and my personal and professional environment," expressed the left-back.

Trauco categorically rejected any criminal charges or story related to the complaint and maintained that, so far, there has been confusion and unjustified damage to all those involved. For his part, Sergio Peña had already issued a statement on Thursday in which he "categorically" denied any involvement in the reported events, while expressing respect and empathy towards the accuser.

Impact on Alianza Lima

The situation has generated a strong impact on Alianza Lima, which decided to temporarily remove the three players while the investigations proceed. The club, led by Argentine coach Pablo Guede, is on the eve of a high-profile friendly match against Inter Miami of Lionel Messi, scheduled for this Saturday in Lima.
