During his participation in the international event, Monegro highlighted that the incorporation of sports tourism allows attracting visitors beyond the traditional sun and beach segment, expanding travel motivations and strengthening the country's international projection. "The country is globally recognized for its beaches and natural beauty, but the government's vision of diversifying the tourism offer, adding sports, entertainment and major events, strengthens the country brand and enhances the destination's competitiveness," he said. The official emphasized that holding high-level events, such as the Central American and Caribbean Games, represents a strategic opportunity to position the Dominican Republic as an ideal venue for sports competitions, conventions, and international shows. He also highlighted that sports tourism generates a positive impact on the economy, boosts sectors such as hotels, transportation and services, and contributes to the sustainable development of host communities. Dominican participation in FITUR is part of the Government's efforts to promote a modern and diversified tourism offer, aligned with international market trends and with the vision of making the country a regional benchmark for experience tourism.
