When talking about his fight against the Mexican Nestor Luna, Rivera stated that it is a fight of great importance because it will be the first after a year and two months without stepping into the ring. When talking about his preparation, the “Zarza” Rivera said that he has made the best of his career this time, under the guidance of the experienced Cuban coach Ismael Salas. He highlighted that for a period of 2 months he has been working with Salas and a team of professionals, among whom he mentioned the former boxer Thomas Dulorme. He also added that he has been preparing alongside the current middleweight (160 pounds) world champion, Carlos “Caballo Bronco” Adames, who has helped him a lot with his wise advice and work ethic.“This fight is very important to me because it will be the first after a long absence, I know that my opponent is coming with the intention of beating me, Luna, like every Mexican, is a warrior and I cannot underestimate him in any way”, Rivera pointed out from his training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Regarding his future plans, he said that for now, the only thing on his mind is the idea of convincingly defeating Mexican Nestor Luna on the 12th. However, I anticipate that after the victory against Luna, he will focus on seeking all the universal titles of the 140-pound division.“It has been a 100% preparation, working alongside Ismael Salas and people like Dulorme has been wonderful. I have learned a lot and the entire Dominican people and the world will realize it on the 12th”, Rivera specified.
