Minister Kelvin Cruz begins construction work on the multipurpose center in the municipality of Puñal

Santiago.- The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz, led the start of the construction of the new multipurpose roofed facility in the municipality of Puñal, Santiago province.

The planned investment for this project is RD$28,978,554.35, covering an area of 1,200 square meters, to provide a safe and functional space intended for the development of various sports disciplines and the hosting of community competitions.

During the event, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, highlighted that the project represents an investment in the present and future of the youth, by offering a space that promotes healthy recreation and the development of sports talent.

The official highlighted that President Luis Abinader maintains the commitment to continue expanding and modernizing sports infrastructure throughout the country, with the purpose of guaranteeing decent facilities that contribute to the comprehensive training of children and young people and strengthen the social fabric of the communities.

“It took a president of flesh and blood, human, sensitive to the concerns of the communities, and that man is named Luis Abinader, who has set his sights on sports and his heart on the youth, and today he is proving it with deeds,” said Cruz.

At the event, the civil and provincial governor of Santiago, Rosa Santos Méndez, and the mayor of the Puñal municipality, José Enrique Romero, expressed their gratitude for the contribution that this facility represents for the community.

The minister was accompanied by the vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, Dharuelly D’Aza, and other authorities from Santiago.

The project includes the construction of concrete foundations and flooring, sidewalks, perimeter fencing, bleachers, and unisex restrooms, as well as a roof with a metal structure that will ensure better conditions for sports practice.

As part of the equipment, the court will be provided with high-performance synthetic flooring, two supports with professional backboards certified by FIBA, a digital scoreboard, an official 24-second shot clock, and general electrical installations, raising the standards of the community’s sports infrastructure.
