Freeman opened the way with a two-run home run in the third inning, a 402-foot hit that makes him the historical co-leader in home runs against the Marlins (41), along with Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman. Ohtani followed his example with another solo home run in the fifth inning, extending the Angels' lead.
Marlins' ace Sandy Alcantara (2-4) had another difficult outing against the Dodgers, allowing five runs and six hits in five innings. Just six days earlier, he was also tagged for seven runs by the defending champions.
The Dodgers, who have won eight of their last nine games, opened the scoring early with a run-scoring double by Dominican Teoscar Hernández in the first inning. Hernández went 2-2 before leaving the game in the fourth inning due to tightness in his left hamstring.
Rookie Hyeseong Kim, in his Major League debut, showed confidence by hitting two hits and driving in a run, contributing to the start of a 10-game road trip for Los Angeles.
Mookie Betts also had two hits, while the Dodgers' bullpen held the Marlins in the final innings to secure the victory.
Miami tried to react with two runs in the sixth and another two in the eighth, but failed to reverse the early damage. Alcántara, for his part, continues to seek to regain his level after his Cy Young season in 2022.
