The young soccer player Byron Matías, eldest son of the producer and businessman Santiago Matías (Alofoke), was officially called up to join the practices of the Dominican Republic's Under-17 National Team, marking a transcendental step in his professional growth within the sport. At just 16 years old, Byron arrives in the country from Europe to take on the challenge of wearing the colors of the homeland, in one of the most important training processes that Dominican football offers to its future promises. Santiago Matías shared the news through his digital platforms, where he expressed the deep satisfaction that this moment in his son's life generates.

I am a happy dad. There is no prize or project that compares to seeing a child build their own path. This is above all else”, wrote Matías, visibly moved by the call.

Byron, of Dominican-Swiss descent, has developed his talent with discipline, sacrifice, and a constant dedication to the sport. His integration into the national team represents not only an individual achievement, but also an act of identity and pride: to compete for the country of origin of his family and which he feels as his own. Being called up to the Under-17 National Team opens doors to high-level training, international competitions, and opportunities for visibility to foreign clubs and scouts. For the young attacker, it also symbolizes the consolidation of a dream built from an early age.

In recent years, Dominican football has shown significant progress in its structure and results. The U-17 team has recorded competitive participations in Concacaf tournaments, with a technical development that demonstrates the strengthening of the youth system of the Dominican Football Federation.

Currently, the selected U-17 team is preparing intensively for the upcoming Concacaf 2025 qualifiers, under a renewed training model, with greater investment in structure and talent acquisition. The arrival of a player partially trained in Europe, like Byron Matías, brings competitiveness, international vision, and strengthens the team's growth process.
