Sports writing (EFE).- Japan’s Naomi Osaka surprised everyone by bursting onto the center court of Rod Laver Arena and going through the tunnel that connects the inside of the venue with the playing court in style, with a striking outfit that, from now on, is “iconic”, as she pointed out.
All eyes were on the Japanese tennis player who appeared on the stage with a pleated skirt-pants under the dress that she later used to play accompanied by a wide-brimmed hat with an incorporated veil. The clothes with which she played the match were in turquoise tones. The idea: “the power of the jellyfish and the delicacy of the butterfly”.

The design, devised by herself and created by the brand that dresses her, Nike, in collaboration with Japanese designer Robert Wun, adorned the Japanese player, who usually attracts attention with her marked stage appearances: sparkles, striking colors, giant bows.

“This outfit is now iconic. It’s inspired by a jellyfish and I’m glad I can do what I like. There’s a butterfly on the hat and also on the umbrella. It has to do with the Australian Open that I won in 2021,” said the Japanese player, who sparked all kinds of reactions.
An original and peculiar outfit of the world’s number one, always linked to fashion and with free rein from her sports brand to establish the designs she wants.
Then, on the court, in the game, it wasn’t so easy or so joyful for the Japanese player, who needed three sets to win against the Croatian Antonia Ruzic and advance in the tournament, in the second round.

Osaka, winner of four Grand Slams, the Australian Open in 2019 and 2021 and the US Open in 2018 and 2020, who reached number one in the world, will play on Thursday against Romanian Sorana Cirstea.
