Sports Writing (EFE).- The New England Patriots announced this Thursday that they will honor Tom Brady, a legend who led them to win six Super Bowls, with the presentation of a 3.6-meter bronze statue of his figure on August 8th.
The former quarterback led the Patriots to win Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, and LIII, making them, along with the Steelers, the most winning team in the Super Bowl era, with six trophies each. Brady, a member of the Patriots Hall of Fame since June of last year, will be the first player to have a statue erected in his honor in the team's history, which dates back to 1959, when the Patriots were founded under the name Boston Patriots, a name they changed in 1971 to the one they have today. Tom Brady arrived in the NFL selected by New England in the 199th position of the sixth round of the 2000 Draft. In addition to the six Lombardi trophies he brought to the Pats' showcases, he won one more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV before retiring at the end of the 2022 season.

The event will take place before the first preseason game in which the Pats will face the Washington Commanders at Gillette Stadium. The New England Patriots announced the tribute on their social media through a video that intersperses memorable moments in Brady's career with the work of the sculptor who forges the statue. "Last year, we commissioned a local sculptor to create a life-size bronze statue to perpetuate the legendary legacy of the great Tom Brady," said Robert Kraft, owner of the team, in the video. Brady, a future member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is considered the best player in NFL history.
