Are there other forms of intelligent life in the Universe? Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) are a controversial and polemical topic, as there is no scientific or formal evidence regarding this supernatural phenomenon, only hypotheses and conjectures.

The term UFO was created in the year 1953, inspired by the United States Air Force and comes from the translation of the English term UFO (Unidentified Flying Object). It is defined as a real or imaginary flying object unidentified by the observer and of unknown origin.

The United States Department of Defense created the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), which investigates and produces reports on unidentified aircraft encountered by military aviators of that country. Triangle or Delta: triangular in shape.
Disc: flat in shape, generally luminous or metallic.
Sphere: with rounded shapes and translucent or luminous spheres.

The famous Roswell incident

World UFO Day coincides with the anniversary of the well-known Roswell Incident, which occurred in 1947. According to reports, an alleged spacecraft crashed in the New Mexico desert. This event opened the debate on the possible existence of extraterrestrial beings in the Universe and on our planet.

According to official authorities, a conventional United States Air Force weather balloon crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. Witnesses who were at the scene at the time the event occurred stated that it was a “flying disc.”
Ufologists (experts in UFO matters) promoted various conspiracy theories indicating that one or more alien spacecraft had crash-landed at the site and that their occupants (extraterrestrials) had been captured by the military.
In the 1990s, the U.S. military released 2 reports on the nature of the object located, identifying it as a Project Mogul nuclear test surveillance balloon.

Most well-known UFO sightings in the world

Roswell, New Mexico (July 1947): has generated countless theories and conspiracies about the existence of extraterrestrial life.
Sao Paulo, Brazil (1986): nearly 20 UFOs were detected by radar, which disappeared when military aircraft appeared to intercept them in the area. Experts determined they were debris ejected by the Soviet space station Salyut-7.
Mexico (1991): this sighting coincided with an astronomical phenomenon that occurred during that year. Thousands of people went out to watch the eclipse, observing an unusual object in the sky.
Arizona, United States (March 13, 1997): is considered one of the most iconic sightings. In the city of Phoenix, a group of strange and unusual lights were observed in the sky, which turned on progressively.
Mexico (March 5, 2005): during a reconnaissance flight carried out by the 501st squadron of the Mexican Air Force to locate drug traffickers’ ships, the video system captured around 11 UFOs.
Jerusalem (January 2011): a light descended onto the Dome of the Rock Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It subsequently moved away into the sky at high speed. The camera located in the celestial vault of Jerusalem captured red lights that made a harmonious movement, the images of which show no evidence of having been altered or modified.

Also known as Groom Lake, it is a detachment of Nellis Air Force Base, located in the southern part of the state of Nevada, United States. It is not a conventional air base, and its military airspace is designated as R-4808N.
