Redacciones 5G de Argentina receives the Grand Press Friend Award at the 81st General Assembly of the SIP

Punta Cana. – Within the framework of the 81st General Assembly of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), @redacciones5g received the Grand Friend of the Press Award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the strengthening of independent journalism and information innovation in the region.

The award was received by Pedro López Matheu, during a ceremony in which Pablo Deluca, president of Infobae (Argentina), was in charge of presenting the recognition.

The Grand Friend of the Press Award is a distinction awarded by the SIP to personalities and institutions that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the defense of freedom of expression and the development of journalism in the Americas.

Upon receiving the award, López Matheu stated that this recognition honors the entire Redacciones 5G team, which works every day for free, ethical journalism adapted to the technological challenges of our time.

“On behalf of Telecom Argentina, we want to thank the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) because it honors us with this distinction and for the invitation to be part of this 81st General Assembly, which is so decisive every time in continuing to defend freedom of the press”, expressed López Matheu.

5G REDACCIONES is defined as "a program that accompanies the evolution of journalistic work with information, trends and tools about the future of the media, hand in hand with technology".

Its purpose is: “To accompany the media in their evolution and sustainability, spreading the potential that new technologies bring to the practice of journalism and the management of new media”.

And its objective: to publicize the opportunities that mobile internet and new digital platforms offer to the world of production, dissemination and consumption of news.

The award ceremony was part of the official activities of the Assembly, which this year brings together editors, directors, and journalists from across the continent to discuss the current challenges facing the press in the face of the advance of authoritarianism, misinformation, and digital transformations.
