High pressure maintains good weather, although passing showers are expected in several provinces

Santo Domingo.- The meteorological environment of the country continues under the influence of an anticyclonic system that maintains mostly stable conditions, with clear skies to scattered clouds in a large part of the national territory, reported Wagner Rivera, predictor of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).

However, he explained that the combination of this system with a localized trough to the northeast of the Dominican Republic has caused an increase in the northeast wind, which has generated passing showers of moderate intensity in some provinces of the north, northeast and the central region of the country.

Rivera indicated that during the night, weak to moderate rains could be recorded in locations of Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal and Samaná, although with less intensity than those that occurred in the afternoon. For this Thursday in the morning hours, the predictor indicated that the wind will continue favoring local showers in provinces such as Puerto Plata, Santiago, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, Hato Mayor and Monte Plata. In the afternoon, these precipitations will extend towards locations in the east and Gran Santo Domingo, including La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, La Altagracia and San Cristóbal, as well as some areas of the Cibao. The specialist clarified that these rains do not pose a risk of flash floods, although he recommended that the population be attentive to intermittent showers and take basic precautions. Regarding temperatures, Rivera highlighted that they will remain pleasant and cool, especially in mountainous areas, so he suggested wearing light warm clothing.

He also reported that maritime conditions remain favorable, with adequate waves for navigation and recreational activities on the country's coasts.
