Hurricane Gabrielle moves away, but trough causes showers and storms in several provinces of the country

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that the incidence of a trough over the national territory generates cloud cover increases with showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts in various regions of the country, especially in the northwest zone, the Cibao Valley, the border zone and the Central Mountain Range. Among the most affected provinces are Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Santiago, El Espino and Dajabón, among others. Indomet maintains several provinces under meteorological alert for risk of urban flooding, including Dajabón, El Espino and Puerto Plata, while Dajabón remains at alert level. The trough is expected to continue tomorrow, providing favorable conditions for the occurrence of showers. In Santo Domingo, the showers could especially affect the northern sectors of the city.

Regarding cyclonic conditions, Hurricane Gabrielle is located about 290 kilometers southeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour, moving north at 17 kilometers per hour. According to its projected trajectory, Gabriel does not pose a danger to the country, although two areas of showers associated with tropical waves in the Central Atlantic are being monitored, which are being strictly followed.
