Santo Domingo. - According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), for today, Monday, during the morning hours, we will continue with a slightly cloudy environment and scarce rainfall in most of the country, however, the prevailing east and east/northeast wind will continue to drag cloudiness towards our territory, to give rise to local showers with thunderstorms, especially in towns of La Altagracia, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, among others nearby.
In that sense, for the afternoon, rainfall will be in the form of showers with electrical storms and occasional gusts of wind in provinces such as: Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, Independencia, Bahoruco, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal and El Gran Santo Domingo (especially the northern part). However, for tomorrow Tuesday, the upper-level trough and the approach of a tropical wave will maintain a very favorable environment for showers with possible thunderstorms to occur from early hours and during the morning in towns in the regions: northeast and southeast. In the afternoon, locally moderate to heavy showers will occur at times, electrical storms and wind gusts in locations in the portions: northeast, southeast, Central Mountain Range, border area and Cibao Valley.
The temperatures will remain hot, for this reason, we suggest drinking enough water, wearing light-colored clothing, and avoiding sun exposure for prolonged periods without protection, mainly from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico or America:
A low-pressure area located several hundred kilometers southwest of the Cape Verde islands is being monitored, which has a medium (50%) and high (70%) potential in the next 2 days to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 7 days. Due to its geographical position, the evolution and development of this system is being followed.
