Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader, along with First Lady Raquel Arbaje, presented the recognitions for the sixth edition of the Annual Protector of the Elderly and Senior Citizen Award, which recognizes the altruism and dedication of senior citizens during the year. The Adult of the Year award was given to teacher Josefina Miniño, for the merit of being an example of inspiration for senior citizens, active and participatory, tireless in her outstanding work as a teacher, dancer and choreographer, sharing her successes, experiences and accumulated knowledge over the years with all generations, delivering what she knows how to do with passion and love: dancing. Meanwhile, the Protector of the Elderly Person award was given to Sister Agripina Acosta, director of the Home for Helpless Elderly La Santísima Trinidad, for having developed for 57 years an outstanding work of welcoming and caring for helpless elderly adults, contributing to their well-being and guaranteeing a dignified life in their advanced stage. These awards constitute a tribute from the nation to its senior citizens.
