Santo Domingo. The Dominican Association of Tourism Journalists (Adompretur) announced the opening of the call for entries for the twenty-second edition of the Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Award (PEL) 2026, and invited journalists and communicators from across the country to submit work on tourism published between October 2025 and August 2026.
The call for entries will remain open until August 31, while the awards ceremony is scheduled for November 4.
Under the concept “Storytellers: stories that connect us,” this year’s edition seeks to recognize the role of journalists and communicators as narrators of the stories that highlight the natural, cultural, gastronomic, and human richness of the Dominican Republic, contributing to the strengthening of the country’s image and the development of the tourism industry.
Interested parties must complete the registration form available at www.adompretur.com and submit, before August 31, 2026, the links or files of their work to the email premioepifaniolantigua@gmail.com, along with the duly completed form and two high-resolution photographs, in accordance with the contest rules.

Renewed foundations
As a new feature, the 2026 edition incorporates updated regulations and a new jury, composed of academics and professionals from different areas of communication, whose names will be announced soon.
The new guidelines include improvements aimed at strengthening the transparency of the selection process, facilitating contestant participation, and ensuring a more rigorous and objective evaluation. Likewise, they establish specific criteria for works published in digital media and incorporate technical verification mechanisms intended to preserve the originality of content, prevent plagiarism, and promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence tools, always prioritizing original journalistic production.

Recognition for tourism journalism
The president of Adompretur, Sarah Hernández, highlighted that the Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Award constitutes the main recognition for journalism specialized in tourism in the Dominican Republic and an opportunity to value the contribution of those who contribute to the strengthening of one of the most important sectors of the national economy.
“The PEL recognizes the talent, rigor, research, and commitment of journalists and communicators who, from their various media and platforms, contribute to projecting the natural, cultural, and historical richness of the Dominican Republic and to promoting responsible, sustainable, and excellent tourism,” he/she expressed.
For her part, the director of the Epifanio Lantigua Award and vice president of Adompretur, Millizen Uribe, encouraged communication professionals from across the country to participate in this new edition.
“We want every journalist or communicator who has produced quality work on tourism to participate. We invite those working in both national and regional media to review the guidelines, complete their registration, and submit their work within the established deadline. The PEL is an opportunity to recognize good journalism and highlight the stories that inspire and connect,” he stated.
