Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) assured that various sectors have tried to discredit and “sabotage” the Teacher Performance Evaluation process, while informing that the sixth stage, corresponding to classroom observation, is progressing steadily and has already exceeded 56% execution.
During his intervention in the program La Voz del CEN, which is broadcast on La Voz Docente Media, the Secretary of Communication and Public Relations of the ADP, Professor Menegildo De La Rosa, stated that some sectors were betting on the failure of the process, assuring that "there were no conditions", that the platform "was not reliable" and that "everyone was going to get burned", but he maintained that the results obtained so far dismantle those arguments.
De La Rosa also denounced that, after the predictions of suspension of the process failed, now some sectors would be promoting that the teachers who have yet to be evaluated do not continue with the observation of classes. However, he assured that the process "is going strong" and that the majority of the teaching staff has assumed the evaluation with responsibility and preparation. Regarding the sixth stage, he explained that as of Wednesday, May 20, out of a universe of 78,463 teachers summoned for class observation, 43,054 observations have already been carried out, equivalent to more than 56% of the total. Likewise, he informed that 29,243 teachers already have an assigned date and have received the corresponding email with the day and time of their evaluation."The teachers know who to believe. They know who is trying to torpedo the matter because they have other interests and who is fighting because their interests are the interests of the teaching profession," said the union leader.
