Banco Popular and FACCI give a home to a girl with cancer in Los Frailes

Santo Domingo.– The Banco Popular Dominicano and the Fundación Amigos Contra el Cáncer Infantil (FACCI) delivered a renovated home to the girl Florelys González and her family, residents of the Los Frailes sector, in Santo Domingo Este, as part of a support program for child cancer patients in vulnerable conditions. The youngest, 9 years old, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and, according to her mother, Escarlin Escolástico, the family was facing difficulties related to housing conditions, especially in aspects of hygiene and safety, which are fundamental for the treatment and recovery of cancer patients. FACCI conducted a social evaluation of the case and, together with Banco Popular, managed the refurbishment of the home to offer a safer and more dignified environment for the girl and her family.

In addition to the improvement of the housing, the bank donated a laptop to support the minor’s educational continuity. The initiative is part of the “Así vivo yo” program, promoted by FACCI, which seeks to improve the living conditions of children with cancer and their families. Mariel Bera, Vice President of the Corporate Relations and Responsible Banking Area of Banco Popular, highlighted that this type of action reflects the institution’s social commitment to the most vulnerable families. From her side, Alexandra Matos, president of FACCI, valued the support received to develop projects that positively impact the health, emotional stability, and well-being of the children benefited. With this delivery, Florelys González and her family now have a suitable space to face the recovery process in better conditions.
