The initiative is part of the Mujer BHD Gender Strategy that the financial institution has been carrying out since 2015. Santo Domingo.- Banco BHD inaugurated a new lactation room located in the facilities of the Núñez de Cáceres complex, corner of 27 de Febrero Avenue, within the framework of World Breastfeeding Week, which is celebrated every year from August 1 to 7.

“Las salas de lactancia se han diseñado para contribuir con el bienestar de nuestras colaboradoras en su rol de madres, sobre todo en una etapa de tanto valor para ellas y sus hijos como lo es la primera infancia”,

aseguró Steven Puig, presidente del Banco BHD.
He also maintained that, with this initiative, the bank promotes the integral development of women and the core of society, the family. Martha Peralta, Senior Vice President of Talent and Culture at Banco BHD, highlighted that this new room symbolizes a milestone that adds value to the continuous development and well-being of the female collaborators. Peralta emphasized that "our lactation rooms are a tangible way to support their personal and professional well-being. These spaces are part of the development of a culture of social responsibility that we implement with internal practices of equality and gender equity."

In 2015, Banco BHD was the first private company in the Dominican Republic to have a lactation room certified as a “Breastfeeding Family Friendly Room” by the Ministry of Public Health and the La Leche League at its main headquarters. This was a commitment assumed by the financial institution with the implementation of the Mujer BHD Gender Strategy, whose internal component develops a culture of social responsibility that implements practices of equality and gender equity.

In March 2023, they inaugurated the first municipal lactation room at the headquarters of the City Council, as well as the first lactation room in the Colonial City.
