Santo Domingo.- BMI Seguros República Dominicana held an educational discussion on “Genetics and cancer prevention in women”, with the participation of specialists from the Moffitt Cancer Center, who emphasized the importance of early detection and the value of personalized medicine as a key tool in the fight against cancer.

The meeting was attended by Massiel Popa, ambassador of the Moffitt Cancer Center in the Dominican Republic, and Martha Sanz, Manager of International Patient Services for the Moffitt Cancer Center, who highlighted the relevance of strengthening strategic alliances to bring the region closer to the highest international standards of cancer prevention and treatment.

During the session, Stefania Alastre, genetic advisor and counselor, along with Dr. Roberto Díaz, MD, PhD, Senior Medical Director of Network Sites for the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center, shared essential information on the role of genetic testing in identifying hereditary risks, as well as its application in the prevention and timely management of cancer, with a special focus on breast cancer.

Specialists presented the most advanced approaches in diagnosis and treatment, highlighting how the integration of genomic tools allows for the development of more precise and personalized preventive and therapeutic strategies for each patient.
