Los Angeles.- The Dominican documentary BORU, written, directed, and produced by filmmaker Ronny A. Sosa, continues to consolidate an outstanding international trajectory after conquering the Hollywood film circuit and receiving important awards, official selections, and mentions at festivals in various countries.
One of the production’s most recent achievements was winning the Best Documentary award at the LA Docs International Film Festival 2026, in Los Angeles. This recognition adds to the Best Documentary award at the Fine Arts Film Festival Made in DR, where the film was distinguished as one of the most outstanding Dominican documentary productions of the year.
BORU has also won awards for Best Documentary, Best Director, and Best Editing at the Indie Cine Awards, in addition to being recognized as Best Documentary at the Indian Independent Film Festival and the Anatolia Istanbul International Film Festival. Likewise, it received the award for Best Documentary Direction at the All That Moves International Film Festival, along with other international recognitions.
The film’s journey includes honorable mentions at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival, the Beyond Border International Film Festival, and the East Village New York Film Festival, in addition to being a finalist in the best documentary category at the Antigua Film Festival and nominated at the Swedish International Film Festival.
The official poster for BORU has already gathered more than 25 international laurels, including awards and selections at festivals such as the LA Asian Film Festival, Dominican Film Festival in New York, Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival, Bocas Film Fest, Crown Wood International Film Festival, Mesa Film Festival, Global Indie Filmmaker Awards, IIDEAL International Film Festival, and other film gatherings in Europe, Asia, and America.

Filmed between Japan and the Dominican Republic, BORU explores the historical, human, and cultural ties that unite both nations, using baseball, migration, labor, and identity as meeting points. The production was led by Ronny A. Sosa, Biviana Bautista, and Julio Grisanty, under the Fénix Legendario Studios label.
After its successful run in Hollywood and international festivals, BORU will soon arrive in theaters in the Dominican Republic, allowing the Dominican public to discover on the big screen this story about two islands that, although separated by thousands of kilometers, share the same sun.
