Santo Domingo. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) held the webinar “Journalism and research for development: The new open data platform of the BCIE”, with the participation of more than 200 journalists and researchers. During the activity, the new open data portal was presented, designed to offer reliable and structured information that facilitates rigorous analysis and converts data into useful knowledge for research, journalism, and decision-making. The launch of this first phase responds to one of the commitments of the Information Access Policy (PAI), in force since July 2025, and is part of the activities of the Month of Transparency and Access to Information, in commemoration of the International Day for Universal Access to Information.

"This platform is a firm step in our commitment to accountability and connects directly with the Institutional Strategy 2025–2029, which promotes transparency as a pillar of our management," stated the Bank's executive president, Ms. Gisela Sánchez. For her part, the director for Honduras and president of the Communications and Access to Information Committee of the Institution, Ms. Belinda Carías Martínez, indicated: "with this platform, the CABEI puts in the hands of journalists and researchers a resource that not only strengthens transparency, but also promotes the generation of knowledge and the construction of solutions for our region".

In this same event, the CABEI presented the Journalism and Research Contest for Development – CABEI Open Data, whose objective is to recognize the works that use the information published by the Bank to show its contribution to sustainable development and regional integration.
