Santo Domingo. – The pot-banging protests continued this Tuesday night in different parts of Greater Santo Domingo, where citizens returned to demonstrate to express their dissatisfaction with the new Penal Code and other decisions promoted by the authorities.
Through videos shared on social media, protests were observed in several sectors of the capital, where residents banged pots and pans from their homes and streets as a way to express their discontent. The organizers assure that the demonstrations are taking place peacefully.
Among the participants’ demands are their rejection of several aspects of the Penal Code, which some sectors have called a “gag law,” as well as questioning of fiscal measures and reports of alleged abuses committed by police officers.
The organizers reported that they plan to maintain this form of protest every night at 8:00, with the purpose of keeping their demands visible and drawing the authorities’ attention to the issues they consider a priority.

Likewise, they announced a gathering for next Thursday at the Plaza de la Bandera, where they hope to bring together citizens from different provinces to reiterate their demands and request that their proposals be taken into account.
