Santo Domingo. – The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday several international and legislative initiatives, including agreements with Belgium and Honduras that seek to strengthen diplomatic cooperation and air transport.
During the session, lawmakers endorsed an agreement signed with Belgium, which will allow family members of diplomatic and consular officials to perform paid activities in the countries where they are accredited.
Furthermore, a bilateral agreement with Honduras was validated, aimed at boosting the development of air transport between both nations, which could translate into greater commercial and connectivity opportunities.
In the realm of recognitions, the deputies approved to distinguish Carl Edward Heastie for his work in favor of the Dominican community residing in the state of New York, in the United States.
Similarly, the plenary decided to refer to a special commission for study a bill that seeks to modify provisions related to the completion of stalled public works, including road infrastructure, educational centers, and hospitals.
The commission will be headed by the vice president of the legislative body, Dharuelly D’Aza, along with a group of deputies appointed to analyze the proposal.

In the same session, lawmakers also approved several internal resolutions aimed at requesting the execution of works and the installation of public services in different communities of the country.
Prior to the start of the works, the chamber observed a minute of silence in honor of relatives of recently deceased legislators, as well as a former baseball player from Azua.
At the end of the session, the deputies were called to resume legislative work this Wednesday morning.
