Santo Domingo.– The City Council of the National District announced the winners of the National District Carnival 2026, revealing that the Intergalactic Carnival of Villa María won the award for the Grand Comparsa.
The Organizing Commission of the National District Carnival officially announced the list of participants who had the best scores in a parade that was characterized by the order and creativity that year after year are evident in the carnival of the capital’s residents. Thousands of attendees gathered last Sunday, February 22, at the malecón to witness a high-level cultural festival.
The first place in the Floats category was also won by Carnaval Intergaláctico, while second and third place went to Creación y Diversión and Creación Fantástica, respectively.
In Traditional Devils, the winners were Los Dragones de Villa María, Los Cachos de Villa Francisca and Los Moñuses del Espaillat.
The Fantasy Devils category was headed by The Incomparables, The Sons of the King and The Devils of San Carlos.
The Disposables of Christ the King were crowned in the Popular Creativity category, followed by The President’s Birthday and The Little Giants.
On the other hand, the Historical category had as its most outstanding African Blood, African Roots, Taínos and Africans in the top three positions.
Creation and Fun of Villa Francisca won first place in the Ali Baba section, leaving Carnival Fantasy in second and The Abusers of Villa Francisca in third.
The Fantasy category had Fantastic Creation as its main representative (first), as well as The Mockers of San Carlos and Extreme Fantasy.
Esencia de Mi Tierra took the highest honors in the Traditional category. Second place went to Los Palos de Villas Agrícolas and third place to El Viejevo del Swing.
The Traditional Individual Character was dominated by Traditional Roba La Gallina, Roba La Gallina de Los Kikitones and The Death in Jeep of the DN.The Warrior Rooster took first place in the Individual Fantasy Character category, followed by Fantasy of the Reindeer God and Rebel Fantasy.
The official document was signed by the president of the jury, Aristóteles Ponserrate, and by the president of the National District Carnival Union (UCADI), William García.
