Santo Domingo.– The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed three provinces on yellow alert this Wednesday and maintains 12 other demarcations, including the National District, under green alert, due to the weather conditions affecting the country caused by the incidence of a trough and the approach of a tropical wave.
La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, and Sánchez Ramírez are on yellow alert.
While under green alert remain San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Santo Domingo, National District, San José de Ocoa, Duarte, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, Santiago and Hermanas Mirabal.
The emergency agency’s measure responds to the forecast from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), which predicts moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms, wind gusts, and possible hail in different parts of the national territory for the coming hours.
The COE explained that these conditions could generate flash floods, as well as increases in the levels of rivers, streams, and creeks, mainly in vulnerable areas.

Given this situation, he recommended that the population stay informed through official bulletins and adopt preventive measures, such as avoiding crossing tributaries with high water volumes and refraining from using swimming areas located in the provinces under alert.
The authorities reported that they will continue to monitor the behavior of the weather system and will issue new provisions if necessary.
