The Cobra Operation, launched by the Public Ministry, placed a group of former officials and contractors linked to the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) in custody, accused of defrauding public funds destined for health services in the Dominican Republic.
According to the investigation, the scheme would involve massive bribes, falsification of documents, scams, fraudulent contracts, and payments to service providers without actual verification, thus affecting the integrity of the public health system. [7]
Among those arrested are Heydi Mariela Pinela, as well as the former director of SeNaSa Santiago Hazim, former managers and consultants, in addition to suppliers contracted by the state agency.
The authorities carried out 12 simultaneous raids, with the participation of dozens of prosecutors and hundreds of police officers, as part of the initial phase of judicialization of the case.
