Santo Domingo. – Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, known as Yayo and general director of the General Customs Directorate, highlighted the strengthening of Dominican trade and economy, noting that the country is experiencing significant growth in both imports and tourism development.

"The development of a new tourist hub in Pedernales, the growth of our imports, which from 700 million dollars monthly we are going to 1,300 million dollars monthly, this activity that we have here today is another recognition of how the Dominican economy, the Dominican trade, has been strengthened," expressed Sanz Lovatón.

The official emphasized that the Dominican economy continues to be a leader in Latin America, thanks to the reduction of poverty and the increase in the country's credit rating.

"Within the framework of transparency, let's be clear: for the first time in the history of this country we have an independent Public Ministry," he affirmed.

Sanz Lovatón also referred to the fulfillment of the organization's fiscal goals: "We are in line with our goal, we are doing very well, we are at 90 and something of the goal, which is quite normal because the last quarter of the year is where collections are higher, and we aim to finish correctly within the budgetary goal."

These statements were offered during the VIII Annual OAS Conference, an event that brings together companies with this certification and the entire logistics and commercial sector of the country. Under the slogan “Promoting Compliance, Facilitation, and Transformation of Foreign Trade,” the conference served as a space for technical updating and guidance in the face of the challenges of global trade.
