Santo Domingo. The Dr. Darío Contreras Traumatology Teaching Hospital reported this Saturday that the video circulating on social media regarding an incident that occurred at its facilities does not correspond to a recent event, but rather to a case recorded in November 2024.
Through a statement, the health center’s management explained that the audiovisual material has been disseminated out of context and assured that it does not reflect the current reality of the hospital, which, as indicated, has strengthened its security protocols and institutional processes.
The hospital director, Andy de León, stated that the institution currently has reinforced security measures, trained personnel, and permanent coordination with State security agencies to ensure a safe environment for patients, family members, and staff.
“In light of the circulation of information related to an event that occurred more than a year ago, we clarify that said content does not reflect the current reality of our hospital,” the official stated.
De León indicated that these advances have been possible thanks to the support of the National Health Service (SNS) and reiterated the center’s commitment to medical care based on quality, warmth, humanization, and safety 24 hours a day.

Likewise, the hospital urged the population to verify the date and context of the information circulating on social media before sharing it, as well as to consult official channels to obtain verified information.

The incident
The video that has gone viral again shows the assault that occurred on November 17, 2024, in the Emergency area of the Darío Contreras Hospital, when a 28-year-old patient and his wife, both of Haitian nationality, attacked the medical and nursing staff of the center.
According to the information provided at the time, after the patient was admitted to the triage area, the couple physically assaulted the medical staff and even threatened those present with a bladed weapon, specifically a dagger, that the man had smuggled into the hospital.
The center’s authorities reiterated that the incident was addressed in a timely manner and assured that since then new measures have been implemented to reinforce security within the facilities.
