Delcy Rodríguez and the Chavista alliance are committed to the “rescue” of Nicolás Maduro and his wife

Caracas.- The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Chavista parties grouped in the Gran Polo Patriótico committed this Wednesday to the “rescue” of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, detained in the United States after their capture on Saturday in Caracas by forces of this country.

Rodríguez led a meeting with that coalition in order to “set goals in defense of peace and sovereignty”, including the “rescue” of Maduro and Flores “after their kidnapping by occupying forces” of the United States, according to the Presidential press team. The other two “fundamental guidelines” are “to guarantee peace throughout the republic and maintain political governance in the face of current challenges,” the press release indicates.

Chavista Commitment to Maduro’s Rescue

Delcy Rodríguez, who has already made her first appointments in the areas of security and economy, called for a “monolithic unity” and to ensure “national production through the engines of the Bolivarian economic agenda”, the official text continues.

For their part, the political forces of Chavismo expressed “their unwavering commitment to fulfill the rescue tasks” of Maduro and Flores, captured on the morning of Saturday, January 3, amid a series of attacks in Caracas and three states near the capital which, according to the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, left “dozens” dead.

Maduro, who was immediately transferred to the U.S., is accused by the Justice Department of that country of four federal charges, including narco-terrorism conspiracy and conspiracy to import cocaine.

This Monday, Maduro and Flores pleaded not guilty to all charges they face before the court of the Southern District of New York, during their first appearance.

The Venezuelan Government invited the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, to visit the South American country so that he can verify “firsthand” the consequences of the attack.
