Deportation of 977 undocumented foreigners this Tuesday

Santo Domingo.- In the continuation of its immigration control work, agents of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) this Tuesday, February 17, detained 698 foreigners in an irregular condition, and in addition, the institution received 412 who were handed over by the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT) and the National Police (PN), which totaled 1,110 people. The day included the deportation of 977 undocumented people to Haiti. Through the formal border crossing of Elías Piña, 461 people were deported, 355 through Dajabón, while 84 people were processed through Jimaní and 77 through Pedernales. In the Southeast macro-region, the center of the DGM's direct operations was Greater Santo Domingo, which recorded 139 arrests. To the East, the La Altagracia and La Romana area added 66 interdictions. In the Cibao macro-region (North/Northwest), 51 detainees were reported in La Vega, and 27 in Santiago de los Caballeros. In Dajabón 60, in Monte Cristi 50 and in Mao and Santiago Rodríguez 36. Other deployments included Espaillat and Hermanas Mirabal with 19 arrests and Puerto Plata with 16.

In the Southwest macro-region, 63 arrests were reported in Elías Piña and 62 in Pedernales. In this same region, Independencia (Jimaní) recorded 40 cases, followed by Azua and Peravia with 27, Barahona with 23, and Bahoruco with 19 arrests. With these actions, the General Directorate of Migration fulfills its mission to maintain migration order, ratifying its commitment to compliance with current legal processes.
