Santo Domingo. – The General Directorate of Information and Defense of Social Security Affiliates (DIDA) recognized 31 initiatives developed by 15 entities responsible for risk management and the provision of health services, within the framework of the first edition of the Good Practices in Social Security Award.
The awarded proposals cover key areas such as the humanization of services, comprehensive patient management, user experience, prevention of irregularities, financial protection, and health promotion, reflecting concrete advances towards a more efficient, transparent, and people-centered system.
During the ceremony, the Director General of DIDA, Elías Báez, highlighted that these recognitions constitute an instrument to promote improvements in the quality of services and strengthen the protection of affiliates. “Defending the rights of affiliates also implies promoting quality, driving continuous improvements, and recognizing those who are generating positive changes in the system,” he stated.

The recognized initiatives demonstrate the commitment of institutions and professionals who have innovated in their processes, placing the affiliate at the center of care and generating measurable results in the quality of services.
Main recognitions
Among the entities awarded with the Gold Seal are the Specialized Diagnostic Center CEDISA, Médico Express, the Dr. Ney Arias Lora Traumatological Teaching University Hospital, the Lic. Wanda Cid Santos First Level Care Center, the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS), the Dr. Paulino Reyes Maternal and Child Medical Specialties Hospital (HEMMI), Farmacia GBC, ARS Dr. Yunen, and the San Pablo Apóstol Parish Medical Dispensary.
Likewise, Silver and Bronze Seals, along with special mentions, were awarded to public and private health institutions that demonstrated significant contributions in innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement of services.
Rigorous evaluation process
The awards were granted after a strict evaluation process of the submitted initiatives, carried out in a first phase by qualified technical personnel from the DIDA.
This process was reinforced by the participation of an evaluation jury composed of renowned personalities with extensive experience in social security and in the national and international health system, guaranteeing criteria of objectivity, transparency, and technical rigor in the selection.
Recognition of trajectories and advances in pensions
The ceremony included a tribute to personalities and institutions for their contributions to the development of Dominican social security.
Among those recognized are former President Hipólito Mejía, former Senator Iván Rondón, doctors Félix Antonio Cruz Jiminián and José Joaquín Puello Herrera; journalist Altagracia Ortiz; economist Arismendy Díaz Santana and AFP Crecer, the latter highlighting innovative practices aimed at strengthening pension education and eliminating obstacles and costs for affiliates, facilitating greater access to the benefits of the pension system.

The institution reported that in future editions, initiatives from the AFPs will be formally incorporated into the award categories.
Vigilance, proximity and permanent defense
At the conclusion of his speech, the DIDA general director reaffirmed the institutional commitment to the active defense of the affiliates.
“We will continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, guiding, caring for, and defending our members against any violation of their rights.
Because that is our role. That is what we were created for by law. And we assume it with responsibility, but also with character.
