Santiago. An alleged dispute over the control of a drug dealing spot ended in tragedy this Thursday night in the community of Banegas, Villa González municipality, where one man died after being stabbed in the chest and another was injured, in a new episode of violence that has residents alarmed.
The victim was identified as Luis Miguel González, alias “Papi“, a native of Cotuí, who died in the midst of a heated argument that escalated into a confrontation with bladed weapons.
During the incident, Alfre Pichardo was also injured, with a wound to his thigh.
The man was taken to a health center, where he is receiving medical attention. According to preliminary information, his condition is stable.
According to initial investigations, the conflict is believed to be related to a dispute over an alleged narcotics distribution point operating in that community, although this version is currently being verified by investigators.
Agents of the National Police and representatives of the Public Ministry carried out the processing of the scene and are deepening the investigations to identify and capture the person responsible for the homicide, as well as to clarify the circumstances of the event.
The body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), in Santiago, for the corresponding procedures.
Crime has increased concern among the residents of Banegas, who reported that the presence of alleged drug dealing spots continues to generate violence and insecurity in the area. Likewise, they demanded an urgent intervention from the authorities to curb criminality before new tragedies occur.
