Santo Domingo. The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), together with the Public Ministry and with the support of the National Police, reported that it seized 351,852 grams of various narcotic substances during a series of operations carried out in several areas of the country in the last 15 days.
According to the anti-narcotics agency, the actions included 159 raids and more than 500 operations, in which 1,814 people were arrested and various pieces of evidence related to drug trafficking and distribution were seized.
During the interventions, the authorities seized 290,300 grams of alleged cocaine, 52,047 grams of marijuana, 8,659 grams of crack, 485.40 grams of tusi, 348.30 grams of heroin, 10.90 doses of hashish, and 148 ecstasy pills.
The DNCD indicated that these results are part of the actions coordinated by the Joint Task Force (FTC), with the objective of dismantling narcotic substance sales points and arresting members of networks dedicated to this illicit activity.

In addition to the seized drugs, authorities confiscated 10 firearms, 29 knives and machetes, three vehicles, 66 motorcycles, 37 communication radios, 502 cell phones, a bulletproof vest, and 144 scales, among other equipment allegedly used for the distribution of narcotics.
Likewise, RD$2,678,769 Dominican pesos and US$3,999 US dollars were seized, in addition to 12 slot machines, according to the report provided by the institution.
The operations were deployed in sectors of the National District, Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo West, and Santo Domingo North, as well as in provinces such as La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Duarte, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, San Juan, and Barahona, among other jurisdictions.
The DNCD assured that it will continue to strengthen intelligence and prosecution efforts against structures dedicated to drug trafficking and commercialization, with the purpose of reducing micro-trafficking operations in the national territory.
