Dominican Film Festival in New York 2025 kicks off with over 3,000 attendees

United States.- The Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNYC) kicked off this Thursday with a lineup that includes more than 70 film screenings and a schedule full of activities, managing to establish itself as one of the main platforms for the dissemination of Dominican cinema and culture abroad.

Before an audience of more than 3,000 attendees, the international premiere of the film "The Rejected: Submarine Operation", directed by Yasser Michelén, was presented.

The director and founder of the festival, Armando Guareño, highlighted the diversity that characterizes this fourteenth edition with the most recent Dominican productions.

 “We are the leading Dominican film festival internationally, also highlighting the cultural and social impact of the Dominican community in New York and the world”, expressed Guareño.

The screenings will take place at its main headquarters, the AMC Empire 25 cinema (234 W 42nd Street) and at the Dominican Cultural Center, which will also host a series of free workshops open to the general public. The week of activities will close on Tuesday, October 28 with the screening of Carlota la más Barrial, a story that follows Carlota, a charismatic and strong-willed woman who becomes the voice of her community in Villa Hermosa when facing a dangerous gang. With urban humor and a message of unity, the film celebrates solidarity and the neighborhood spirit.
