Bonao. – The Provincial Health Directorate (DPS) of Bonao, headed by its director, Dr. José Báez, continued this Thursday with the dengue prevention operations, moving this time to the community of El Caribe, where a multidisciplinary team carried out a wide range of actions.
The operation included fumigation, delivery of educational brochures, and the process of descacharrización, which consists of eliminating or adapting unusable objects that accumulate water — such as tires, bottles, containers, or junk — to prevent them from becoming breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits diseases such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya.
The DPS director, Dr. José Báez, recalled that the Dominican Republic was recognized last year for maintaining low levels of dengue cases, and highlighted that this 2025 the positive trend continues, since to date no case has been confirmed in the province.
"The Minister of Public Health, Doctor Víctor Elías Atallah Lajam, has a firm commitment to the country and from this province we are working aligned with that vision to preserve the health of our people," Báez pointed out.
The day was coordinated in conjunction with the president of the Neighborhood Council of the Caribbean community, Yovanny Díaz Fernández, representing the residents, who thanked the support of the health authorities in these preventive actions.
