Ecuadorian star Alex Ponce was nominated for the Premios Juventud 2025 in the category of New Male Generation, whose gala will be held on September 25 in Panama City.
"It's a feeling of gratitude and immense pride to be one of the nominees in such important awards. It's a sign that you're on the right track," said the artist upon hearing the news.
The Premios Juventud will be held for the first time in Panama, produced by Univision.
Ponce added that at this moment he remembers "the Alex from five years ago, who rode his bike from the University to his house, thinking about everything he had to work on to be able to live off what he loves so much, music."
"It's not even a question of being able to be nominated for an award like this, alongside artists I've always admired," he indicated.
Alex Ponce is one of the most exciting voices of the new wave of Latin music, and currently the most listened to pop artist from Ecuador.
He made history as the first Ecuadorian to enter both the global Spotify and Billboard charts, achieving what previously seemed impossible from his hometown, Cuenca: a global impact thanks to his genuine talent, his narrative and authenticity, without shortcuts or formulas.
With over 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 300 million total streams, Alex has built a loyal global audience that continues to grow organically. His most successful track, “Plan”, has surpassed 130 million streams, while songs like “Ve y Diles” and “La Sin Sentimientos” have also reached millions of streams.
On YouTube, his videos have accumulated more than 736 million views, and his catalog continues to expand on platforms like Amazon Music and Apple Music.
But beyond the numbers, what sets Alex apart is his story.
She began writing songs at 14 and has steadily built a career based on vision, vulnerability, and a sound that fuses Latin pop with influences from American pop, pop rock, and indie, connecting deeply with Generation Z. Not only does she sing, compose, and produce her own music, but she also directs and edits all her digital content, creating aesthetic and emotion-laden videos that have gone viral on TikTok and Instagram Reels—often becoming a reference for other artists in the region.
This year, he will release "Cultura POPular", a collaborative EP with Zulia, which pays homage to modern pop culture through nostalgic visuals and fresh sounds, combining cinematic references and viral internet moments into a cohesive creative vision.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with great artists like Lasso and Camilo.
