Merengue artist Eddy Herrera called on radio stations and digital platforms to provide more support to Dominican artists while they are still active. The performer expressed his surprise at observing that the music of Alex Bueno and Rubby Pérez has received greater airplay following their deaths, and therefore urged that such support should not come too late.
“Alex has been playing these days more than ever, why? Why is he playing on the radio, on social media, the music, Alex’s videos, like perhaps never before? Let’s not leave that for later. And if I continue talking about the case of our dear Rubby, the same thing happened with Rubby. Keep playing my music, radio, social media, and the music of all Dominican artists,” expressed Herrera during an interview on the program “Ellas en la Noche”.
The artist noted that he is struck by the renewed interest that the music of both merengue singers has sparked following their passing, a situation that, in his view, should motivate radio stations and digital platforms to constantly promote the work of national performers of all generations.

Herrera clarified that his statements do not stem from a lack of support for his career, as he assured he feels grateful for the support he has always received from the radio. However, he insisted on the importance of strengthening the promotion of Dominican music and recognizing the contribution of its exponents while they are still active.
