The legal battle between Elon Musk and OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, has taken a key turn after a US judge's decision to allow the case to proceed to trial. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, accuses the company and its CEO, Sam Altman, of having betrayed the foundational goal of the organization by moving from a non-profit model to a commercial one.
District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, of the Oakland, California court, considered that there is sufficient evidence to support the lawsuit filed by Musk. According to the magistrate, there are elements that suggest that OpenAI leaders assured that the original non-profit structure would be maintained.
