Dajabón. The former senator of the Dajabón province and leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Juan Agustín Zapata, passed away this Wednesday afternoon, as confirmed by family members, political leaders, and people close to the former legislator.
Zapata had been admitted for several months at the Unión Médica del Norte, where he was receiving medical treatment due to health complications. So far, no official details have been provided regarding the specific causes of his death.
With an extensive career in public life, he represented the province of Dajabón in the Senate during the 1994-1998 period. In addition to his legislative work, he developed a renowned career as a lawyer and notary, also serving as president of the Dominican College of Notaries branch in that province.
In the political sphere, he held the municipal presidency of the Modern Revolutionary Party in Dajabón, from where he maintained an active participation in party activities and issues of interest to the border province.
