Four alleged robbers fall minutes after jewelry store robbery in Santiago; Police recover jewelry and seize illegal pistol

Santiago.- National Police agents thwarted the escape of four alleged assailants who had committed an armed robbery at a jewelry store on San Luis Street in this city, recovering cash, valuable items, a firearm, and other evidence related to the case.

The assault was reported around 4:10 in the afternoon this Monday, when, according to the police report, four men broke into the commercial establishment and, under threat of firearms, stole jewelry and cash before escaping in a gray Honda CR-V SUV.

After receiving the alert, the Police activated a search operation and immediately disseminated the vehicle’s characteristics. Minutes later, the unit was located and intercepted on Estrella Sadhalá Avenue, where Marcos José García de la Cruz, Andy José Castillo Jiménez, Delvinson Luis Restituyo Mejía, and Heber Isaac Burgos García were arrested.

During the intervention, the agents seized RD$36,150 in cash, two US dollars, 4,895 grams of silver, four silver earrings, four cell phones, gloves, ski masks, and a handgun without legal documentation, which was allegedly used during the assault.

The law enforcement institution reported that the money, the recovered garments, the vehicle, and the other evidence remained in custody and will be referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of the judicial process, while investigations continue to fully clarify the case and determine if the detainees are linked to other criminal acts in the province.
