Actor, director, and film producer George Clooney will be honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the upcoming edition of the Venice Film Festival, the festival organizers announced this Monday.
Clooney, 65, stated that receiving the award is a “tremendous honor” for him.
“That probably means I’m old, but I’ll take it,” he said in a statement released by the festival, which will take place this year from September 2 to 12.
The jury of the 83rd Venice Film Festival will be headed by American actress Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Clooney, also known for his political activism and humanitarian work, frequently attends the Venetian festival.

The actor “has explored diverse genres with remarkable versatility,” highlighted the festival director, Alberto Barbera, among which he cited, among others, Syriana (2005), the film for which he was awarded the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, Ocean’s Eleven, Gravity, and The Descendants.
