Guaymate mourns two lives in minutes: a girl and her grandmother die after a tragic accident

Guaymate, La Romana.– Deep consternation grips the municipality of Guaymate following a tragedy that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, in which a 10-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a motorcycle, and minutes later her grandmother died of a sudden heart attack upon hearing the news. The minor, identified as Esther, was hit by a motorcycle in front of a fuel station in the municipality, after suddenly coming out from behind a bus that was dropping off passengers. The impact caused her serious injuries. The girl was rushed to a health center in the city of La Romana, but unfortunately passed away during the journey.

The motorcycle driver was identified as "Charli Valdez", 27 years old, residing in the province of El Seibo, who was injured and is receiving medical attention under the custody of the corresponding authorities, while the circumstances of the event are being investigated. The tragedy became even more painful when, upon learning of her granddaughter's death, the girl's grandmother suffered a sudden heart attack that caused her immediate death, adding a second victim to this unfortunate event. This event has generated deep sorrow in the Guaymate community and reopens the debate on road safety in urban areas, especially in areas with high vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
