In the first six months of the year 2025, the total resources executed for public investment amount to RD$29,380.36 million pesos, a figure that has been mostly absorbed by projects approved and initiated years ago, even initiated during the government of Danilo Medina.
As of June 2025, the Government has accrued a total of RD$31,959 million for public investment projects, of which RD$2,900 million has gone to the construction of Line 2C section Los Alcarrizos-Luperón (February 2022), RD$1,326 million to the construction of the Regional Hospital in San Francisco de Macorís (November 2018) and RD$1,293 million for the construction of tourist routes in Cabo Rojo, Pedernales (May 2022)
Also, RD$1.094 billion were allocated to the construction of the underground overpass at the intersection of Luperón Avenue (April 2024), RD$1.046 billion for road works in Santo Domingo Este (October 2024), RD$900 million for the renovation of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center (March 2024) and RD$857 million for the improvement of 100,000 homes throughout the national territory (starts in 2022).
By observing the investments by province, it is noted that the projects with the largest amounts allocated are concentrated in Gran Santo Domingo, with RD$9,163 million allocated, Distrito Nacional with RD$3,620, Duarte RD$1,838 million, Santiago RD$1,753 million, Pedernales RD$1,455 million, María Trinidad Sánchez RD$1,378 million and Monte Plata RD$1,070 million.
The other provinces have less than RD$1,000 million allocated for public investment.
It is reminded that Public investment refers to the application of financial resources by the State in projects and activities that seek to improve general well-being and satisfy the needs of the population. It involves the acquisition of goods and the development of activities that increase the State’s assets or its capacity to provide services.
These projects may include infrastructure construction, the provision of public services, investment in human capital, among others.
