Israel will bid farewell to the body of the Nepalese hostage returned this Monday by Hamas, Bipin Joshi, with a ceremony at Tel Aviv airport before being flown to Nepal, the Israeli Foreign Ministry reported in a note this Tuesday.
In the note, the Director General of Foreign Affairs, Bar Tal, conveys his condolences on behalf of the State of Israel "to the Government and people of Nepal".
According to the note, the director general informed his Nepalese counterpart that "ceremonies will be held in memory of Bipin Joshi, both upon the coffin's departure from the airport in Israel and upon its arrival in Nepal, in a ceremony to be attended by the Israeli ambassador."
"Bar Tal emphasized that the State of Israel will continue to provide Bipin Joshi's family with the same rights and the same attention that the families of murdered Israeli citizens receive," the note indicates.
And add that Nepal's Foreign Minister, Bahadur Rai, "expressed his deep gratitude for the way the State of Israel has handled the difficult case of the kidnapping of Bipin Joshi".
According to the Hostages Families Forum, Joshi, 23, arrived in Israel a few weeks before the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, to learn agriculture at the kibbutz (agricultural community) Alumin, where he was kidnapped by Hamas.
