Santo Domingo, DR. – The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Román Jáquez Liranzo, assured that the national coat of arms incorporated into the new identity and electoral card complies with legal provisions and was previously validated by the competent bodies.
The official explained that the different models of the new identity document, including those intended for minors, members of the Armed Forces and the National Police, as well as foreigners with regular migratory status, use a coat of arms certified by the Permanent Commission of Patriotic Efemerides and the Duartian Institute.
Jáquez pointed out that the doubts raised on social media are largely due to enlarged images of the design, which—as he indicated—can alter the perception of the coat of arms and lead to erroneous interpretations among the public.
Likewise, he highlighted that both the national coat of arms and the image of Juan Pablo Duarte that appear on the new ID card were reviewed and approved by the corresponding institutions before their incorporation into the official document.

The president of the JCE urged citizens to consult the information published by the organization’s official channels and reiterated that the design of the new ID card complies with the elements established by Dominican legislation.
