José Alberto “El Canario” celebrates 50 years of his career with his album “Big Swing”

Miami.– As part of the celebration of his five decades in music, José Alberto “El Canario” presents one of the most ambitious projects of his career: Big Swing, a production in the style of the “Big Bands” of the 50s that combines Salsa, Guaracha, Mambo and bolero in a display of virtuosity and Caribbean flavor. Recognized as one of the great soneros and orchestra conductors of salsa, El Canario performs eleven rhythm-filled songs, along with the bolero “Envidia”, in an orchestral format of four trumpets, five saxophones, three trombones, bass, piano, and percussion. The production includes compositions by Charlie Donato, Curet Alonso, Tito Puente, and Silvestre Méndez, among others, with arrangements by figures such as Javier Fernández, Ricky González, and Pablo “Chino” Núñez.

The album also features special collaborations: Raulín Rosendo in “Niña y señora”, Yolanda Duke in “La peleona”, and a luxury choral trio made up of Gilberto Santa Rosa, Víctor Manuelle and Jerry Santiago. Recorded between Puerto Rico, Cuba, New York, Santo Domingo and Texas, Big Swing is shaping up to be a tribute to the Afro-Antillean essence with nods to jazz and flamenco rumba. Available on all digital platforms, the work is under the label “Los Canarios Discos” and distributed by “La Oreja RD”, reaffirming José Alberto’s legacy as one of the most emblematic voices of tropical music.
