Santo Domingo.– The Juan Bosch Foundation celebrated the tenth edition of the Juan Bosch Birth Anniversary Award “Serving the Homeland,” a recognition that distinguishes Dominicans whose trajectory has been marked by honesty, integrity, and commitment to the country’s development.
During the ceremony, the vice president of the Juan Bosch Foundation, Fidel Soto, explained that the award seeks to honor citizens who have dedicated their lives to public service and the well-being of the nation, following the principles promoted by Professor Juan Bosch.
“This event consists of presenting an award to individuals who have stood out in Dominican public life as a service to the nation, people who have acted honestly, with integrity, and dedicated to the struggle for the Dominican people,” stated Soto.
In this tenth edition, Dr. Anulfo Reyes Gómez was recognized for his career in medicine and his commitment to democracy; educator Ligia Amada Melo de Cardona for her contributions to the national educational system; and, posthumously, Colonel Rafael Tomás Fernández Domínguez for his legacy in the defense of constitutional order.

The ceremony, held at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library, included the presentation of the La Gaviota statuette, an audiovisual profile of the awardees, and musical performances, reaffirming the Juan Bosch Foundation’s purpose of preserving historical memory and recognizing citizens whose example inspires present and future generations.
