Leonardo Aguilera throws the first pitch in the opening game of the baseball tournament at the Cibao Stadium

Santiago.- The Executive President of Banco de Reservas, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera, threw the first pitch of the opening game of the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM), held at the Cibao Stadium, where the Águilas Cibaeñas and the Gigantes del Cibao faced each other. Prior to the honorary launch, Aguilera was received by the management of the yellow team, headed by Víctor García Sued, president of the team. The directors were excited to welcome an eagle of all time, son of Santiago, to their home. Aguilera was accompanied by the president of the Banreservas Volunteer Program, Carmen Quijano de Aguilera; his children Enrique, Johanna and Leonardo Aguilera; and his grandchildren. Executives from the financial institution also attended the inaugural event, including Karina Souffront, Senior Director of Personal Business in the North Region, and Juan José Perelló, Director of Corporate Business.

The team organization, owner of 22 national crowns and 6 Caribbean Series, prepared an emotional reception that included the evocation of the achievements reached by Aguilera over more than 40 years of career, with great contributions to the sports and social development of the Cibao region. This is the 72nd season of the winter baseball tournament. The Cibaeña fanbase maintains the hope of regaining the glory of conquering a new crown. The Águilas Cibaeñas last won the Copa Banreservas in the 2020-2021 edition, when they also won the Caribbean Series title.
