The Manzanillo Power Land thermoelectric generation plant has failed to inject energy with stability into the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), after having been inaugurated on March 27th.
Since then, the power plant has been listed as unavailable for periods of several days and available at others, according to the records of the SENI Coordinating Body.
Since its inauguration, the plant, from which an injection of up to 414 MW is expected, has been wavering in the amount of energy it produces and in the days it manages to remain injecting.
Your injection records range between 170 MW and 285 MW. One day you managed to inject 485 MW, this past March 8th.
The inauguration ceremony of this important power plant was attended by President Luis Abinader, who described the work as a project of faith, hope, development, and economic feasibility.
Upon its inauguration, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, explained that the commissioning of Manzanillo Power Land, together with the 128-kilometer, 345-kilovolt transmission line inaugurated in July 2025, marks a milestone on the path toward the development and transformation of the country’s energy system, thanks to the government’s vision to guarantee, responsibly, energy security in an increasingly turbulent world.
