Santo Domingo.- In the context of the preliminary hearing of the Jet Set case, Maribel Espaillat appeared before the court and offered her testimony about the event, recounting how she experienced the moments of the tragedy.
In the middle of the hearing, during her intervention, the accused Maribel Espaillat stated that “she still wonders why God saved her.” Prior to this statement, testimonies emerged about moments of anguish experienced after the event that occurred at the Jet Set entertainment center, where survivors recounted scenes of desperation under the rubble, describing the uncertainty of the moment and the emotional impact of the tragedy.

Maribel told a family member who did not understand what happened at the scene. “I don’t know what happened, I think the roof fell. I was under the roof…”, she expressed, while describing the feeling of being trapped and the chaos experienced during the emergency. Furthermore, she pointed out having witnessed injured people during the rescue, which increased her desperation. “I don’t know where I got the strength that day… God knows I never thought this was going to happen,” she stated, asking for strength for the affected families. The hearing continues to unfold in the corresponding court, amidst the expectation of the parties involved in the process.
